Fuck yeah

I just got home from an evening of mixing. Our friend Þórir is handling the mixing and mastering process and he's helped us make everything sound as cool as possible. I'll put a song off this session on here soon.

Recording

We finally managed to finish some decent recordings, hopefully fit for release. We finished recording the vocals this morning and tonight the tracks will be mixed. If all goes well most of the tracks will be released as a CD EP under the name Strætó er hóra. We have two release shows planned. June 11th and 13th. Details will be posted when more is known. The release shows will most likely be shared with BUMMER who will be releasing a debut EP. The songs I've heard are amazing! Super catchy and cool garage punk. So keep your eyes open for BUMMER.

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here, but it's not like anyone checks this site out anyway. I updated the site a little bit. Put a media player on here and made Brimað á Dauðahafinu... available for download. I must say, I really do prefer Blogger over myspace. It's a nice design, you don't have to deal with friend requests and you can fiddle with design and make it personal without really slowing the site down. And myspace is slow already.

Also, ANIMAL HOSPITAL is playing three shows in Iceland next week. You should definetly check that out. He'll be playing on April 15th at Gamla Bókasafnið, Hafnarfjörður with MY SUMMER AS A SALVATION SOLDIER whose new material is mindblowing. Lots of 80's new wave influence. Dark and repetetive and hypnotizing. PASCAL PINON will also be playing that show. They are young girls playing Belle & Sebastian-esque music. They are really clever songwriters and will hopefully go far. Show starts at 20:00 and the admission is 500 kr.

On April 16th he'll play at Kaffi Hljómalind on Laugarvegur with atmospheric electro artist KLIVE and a band I play in, MONUMENTS who play slow experimental noise/doom/grunge/post-punk/whatever... I don't know how our set will be, but most likely it'll be improvised and it'll definetly be heavy. Show starts at 19:30 and again 500 kr. to get in.

On April 17th he'll then play an in-store show at 12 tónar on Skólavörðustígur. He starts at 17:00 and it's free.

Die Young!!

So yeah we're playing with GAVIN PORTLAND, SWORDS OF CHAOS and DIE YOUNG from Texas. Everybody should come and check it out. DIE YOUNG are amazing! They're a part of the whole 90's hardcore revival, but they're better than most others in that field. They definitely remind me of the bands that got me into hardcore/punk to begin with. Also SWORDS OF CHAOS kick ass. They're doing this whole hipster version of a weird mix between DARK THRONE and BLACK FLAG. It's really cool and interesting music. If all goes well, our set will be short and sweet. So be on time.

T-shirts

The show last night killed! We played sloppy but eventually got through our set without any major occurrences. We stenciled four t-shirts. We sold them all, but we'll make more. In case anyone's interested I'm putting pictures of the designs up here so you can contact us and order a t-shirt.

Upcoming show

Apparently we're playing a show next thursday (August 14) with anarcho-punk heroes DYS and post-hardcore crazies GAVIN PORTLAND at Kaffi Rót. I have no other info at this time, I'm not even 100% sure on the venue, but I decided to give people a heads up anyway. We'll be playing a set of almost only new songs, so I'm personally pretty excited to play and show off our new material.
